Hi, everybody, After years of study of the Houston map, I discovered that the streets in Houston are numbered quite systematically! Here're the tips for the area south of I-10 (actually Memorial Dr) and west of Main St. Other areas are being studied. 1. All north-south (N-S) streets are even numbered on the west side; all are odd numbered on the east side. 2. All west-east (W-E) streets are even numbered on the north side, odd on the south side. 3. All street numbers are in ascending order when going from North to South and East to West. 4. Approximately the streets all across Houston have predictable street numbers. This is like a net or Cartesian coordinate. The streets of about the same latitude have apporximately the same number; so are the streets of the same longitude. For example, W-E streets are about number 5000 crossing 610 Loop West, 9500 crossing South Gessner, 10000 crossing Beltway 8 West and 15000 crossing Highway 6. N-S streets are 1600 crossing Briar Forest, 2600 at Westheimer, 5700 at Harwin and 6700 at Bellaire. Knowing these tips you'll find a place more easily. Say, you want to go to 12345 XXX St. Suppose this street is W-E (this is more likely because a N-S street at this high number would be far south and there're not as many streets down there). Then you can make a good guess that the place you go to is to the west of Beltway 8 West. Maybe it's almost near Dairy Ashford. And you know for sure it's on the south side of the street. Have fun. Drive safely. Yong Huang
